Introducing the VBOX SLIF Testing Solution

We are proud to announce the release of a new testing solution designed to validate Speed Limit Information Function (SLIF) in accordance with EU Regulation 2021/1958.

Utilising the versatile VBOX Touch platform, this solution features a dedicated SLIF App and Event Marker Box, designed to simplify the testing process while ensuring accurate and efficient data collection.

In line with EU regulations, Intelligent Speed Assist became mandatory for all new vehicles from July 2024 and will be integrated into the Euro NCAP Safe Driving Vehicle Assistance Protocol starting 2026.

Key Benefits

Enhanced Efficiency and Data Tracking

The VBOX Touch SLIF App simplifies data tracking by enabling test engineers to easily document time spent across urban, inter-urban, and highway environments, as well as the day-to-night driving ratio—a crucial aspect of testing requirements.

The VBOX SLIF Event Marker Box lets you manually verify whether vehicle-displayed speeds match real-world signage (also possible via the VBOX Touch screen itself). With one button to confirm speed data accuracy and another to log specific events for post-analysis, this tool provides precise, actionable insights into SLIF performance.

Real-Time Compliance Monitoring

Throughout the test, engineers can monitor real-time compliance with the "True Positive_Distance" (TP_D) metric—an indicator of the percentage of time the vehicle’s display accurately matches real-world speed signs.

Notably, the system can detect if the test qualifies for an early stop. If TP_D consistently remains within a +/-5% tolerance over the final 50 kilometres, the total driving time can be reduced from 400 kilometres to 300 kilometres. This option to conclude tests early saves significant time and resources, boosting overall testing efficiency.

Video Integration and CAN Connectivity

For in-depth analysis and post-processing review of event markers, the VBOX Touch can synchronise with a VBOX HD2 unit, linking video footage with data events. The CAN output can also be used to add a graphic overlay to display the key data metrics over the footage. This integration provides you with comprehensive visual feedback on SLIF and ISA accuracy, particularly useful for pinpointing and reviewing instances where signage was misread or unrecognized.

The VBOX Touch CAN output is also available for connection to any other data logger or relevant equipment within a wider test setup.

The SLIF and ISA testing solution is now available to order. More information can be found here:
