VBOX Indoor Positioning System (VIPS) has been successfully installed at the CARISSMA (Centre of Automotive Research on Integrated Safety Systems and Measurement Area) research facility at Ingolstadt Technical University. In this video, Professor Thomas Brandmeier, Scientific Director, CARISSMA, describes why VIPS was the best solution for their indoor testing and how they are putting it to use in support of their cutting-edge research.
The indoor test hall at CARISSMA is 100m long and 30m wide, allowing vehicles to reach up to 60km/h. To replicate real-world conditions, the hall also has the ability to create and control light and weather conditions including rain, mist and fog. Research conducted in the hall focuses on the testing and development of sensors for driver assistance and autonomous systems.
