Braking Reaction

  • Released: 23 July 2021

  • Version: 1.8 BETA

  • About

This app uses two triggers, a handheld trigger and a pedal mounted trigger to measure the reaction and stopping time/distance of the driver.

Once the screen shows ‘READY’ the driver can accelerate to the desired speed or location and then the assessor can start the test at any point by pressing the handheld trigger.

The driver is then instructed to ‘BRAKE’ and then to ‘STOP’. Once the vehicle has come to a stop, the results are shown on the screen and recorded to the SD card.

Reaction, braking and total stopping times/ distances are shown and are recorded to an CSV file, as well as the vehicle speeds at the start of test and at braking.

  • How to install?

    1. Download the correct file for your product.
(Your unit must be registered to receive the required login details for the download. Register here.)

VBOX 3i - Beta Software

VBOX 3i Beta Release

exclamation iconTerms & Conditions

Any firmware or software contained on this page is considered pre-release. It has been tested to ensure any new functionality or bug fix has been implemented correctly, but has not yet completed a full testing cycle and sign off – there may still be other bugs in this version!

We encourage all users of RACELOGIC equipment to use the released versions of firmware and software. However, if you are experiencing problems with the current version, there might be a fix available in a beta release. A list of changes present will be detailed under each beta item.

All feedback would be appreciated.

Do not use beta version when performing critical tests, unless a problem with a release version prevents you from completing the required tests satisfactorily.

When updating software or upgrading firmware, it is the customer's responsibility to make any shared users of the equipment aware that it is running a 'beta' version – e.g. by fixing a temporary label to the unit.

info iconAbout Version 2.8 b23110 (beta)

  • Intermittent communication issue with IMU04 resolved
There is an issue present in firmware version 2.7x where the initial communications between VBOX3i and IMU04 will at times fail. As a result the Kalman filter will fail to initialise and run. This was an intermittent issue which would often require the user to power cycle the system. In version 2.8 a fix has been applied to ensure the IMU04 will successfully initialise. Note this issue is limited to “IMU04 Ready” VBOX3i’s with 2.7x firmware installed and IMU04v1 or IMU04v2 connected.
  • ADAS communication stability improved
Improvements have been made to the ADAS telemetry communications in firmware version 2.8. The wireless telemetry communication links are less susceptible to data and connection loss during VBOX to VBOX data transmission. VBOX3i ADAS users can confirm the VBOX to VBOX link stability by monitoring the “Link Time” channels made available by the VBOX3i. If the Link Time channels excessively drop to zero during use an update to 2.8 will be recommended.
  • LatSsv-tg ADAS parameter enhanced
Quality improvements have been made to the lateral and longitudinal speed (vehicle to vehicle) parameters. As a result users will benefit from a noise reduction on the two ADAS parameters. Due to the channel nature (rate of change) any steps or noise in vehicle range is amplified in their corresponding speed channels. Advanced logic has now been applied to the lateral and longitudinal parameters in order to produce a cleaner, noise reduced speed parameter set without compromising accuracy.
