CAN Bus Interface

VBOX Touch has two CAN Bus interfaces that can be used to capture data from the vehicle CAN Bus, RACELOGIC modules or other CAN-based sensors.

Accurate to ±5 cm

Using a brake pedal mounted trigger input, VBOX Touch will measure the braking distance to within ±10 cm and VBOX Touch RTK to within ±5 cm for a typical 100-0 km/h brake stop.

Large Touchscreen

The 4.3" TFT touchscreen is responsive, great in daylight and allows you to see test results and key information such as MFDD, trigger speed and average deceleration. High brightness LED's provide a visual feedback when test criteria are met.

Dedicated Brake Testing plugins for data analysis

Our user-friendly, intuitive data analysis software is free and comes preloaded with application specific plugins that make it quick and easy to conduct your tests.

Simply save the recorded session to an SD card and import it into VBOX Test Suite for further analysis. You can also connect VBOX Touch directly to a PC or laptop (via a serial cable) to view the test data live on the PC.

park assist icon blueVBOX Test Suite software has five Brake Testing plugins for trigger brake stops, speed-to-speed brake stops, homologation testing to ECE R78, SAE J2909, and category "B" brake assist system tests to ECE R139.

Tests can be run within a tightly defined set of criteria, such as between temperature ranges. Centreline deviation is automatically calculated during each run, and thresholds can be applied to ensure that the operative gets immediate feedback on the validity of results. The plugin also produces a comprehensive report that includes all the relevant test results along with the engineer's notes.

One Product - Multiple Apps


There are a number of additional apps available for VBOX Touch. They are written in Python and can be downloaded free from the Apps Store. You can switch between other applications, by loading the one that you wish to use onto an SD card, and inserting this into the VBOX Touch. Here are just some examples of what you can do:

Performance Testing

The Performance App ships with VBOX Touch as standard and allows you to perform acceleration and deceleration tests, as well as measure your lap times, live speed, average speed or maximum speed.

Tyre Temperature Monitoring

Measure, log and display the surface temperature of all tyres in real-time via heat maps, live and maximum temperature values. You will also need the RACELOGIC tyre temperature sensor kit (RLACS272).

Brake Temperature Monitoring

The Brake Temperature Monitoring app gives you a real-time display of the temperature of each brake disc. In order to use this app, you need the Brake Temperature Monitoring Sensor Kit (RLACS314).

Add-on Products


The VBOX Brake Pedal Trigger (RLVBACS004) allows precise measurement of brake pedal application during braking. The exact time is captured and recorded by the VBOX at a high sampling rate.

The VBOX Pedal Force Sensor and Event Marker Interface makes it easy to test a vehicle's Braking and Braking Assist Systems in accordance to SAE and ECE standards. Connection to the VBOX Touch is possible via the Mini Input Module.

The Mini Input Module allows data such as wheel speed, RPM, temperature, fuel flow, throttle angles and pedal forces to be easily measured along the GNSS data.

In combination with four infrared temperature sensors, you can log tyre temperatures with a VBOX Touch. When loaded with the Tyre Temperature Monitoring App, VBOX Touch will display tyre heat maps, live and maximum temperature values for up to four tyres in real-time.

*Specifications will vary depending on the number of satellites used, obstructions, satellite geometry (PDOP), multipath effects, and atmospheric conditions. For maximum system accuracy, always follow best practices for GNSS data collection. 1 ppm means 1 mm/km away from base. Ppm is limited to baselines up to 20 km.

The industry standard data logger

Most braking departments use VBOX 4 100 Hz GNSS data logger for measuring braking distance, along with a VBOX IMU, to counteract the lever arm effect for speed triggered measurements.

If 10 cm brake distance accuracy is enough

The most cost-effective version of VBOX Touch has all the features of the VBOX Touch RTK, but gives a braking distance accuracy to within 10 cm in a trigger activated test.

If logging is not required

With it’s 100 Hz GNSS receiver and internal IMU, the VBOX 3iS speed sensor offers precise measurements of pitch, roll and yaw, as well as position and speed.
