VBOX Speed & Route Profiler

Displays accurate instructions to a test driver to ensure consistent and repeatable test conditions with regard to speed, distance, and route travelled.

  • Intuitive operation and easy to set up
  • 10 Hz data logging to CF card
  • Up to 8 hours journey length
  • Store up to 10 routes

Key Features

Logs to CF cards

Data is logged to a Compact Flash Card at 123 bits sample which equates to approx. 110 hours on a 512 MB CF card logging all GPS channels at 10 Hz.

Powerful Analysis Software

Analyse your data in VBOX Test Suite using dedicated plugins, letting our software do the hard work for you.

Internal Accelerometer

The internal accelerometer determines the OLED's orientation and flips the display as well as the association of the buttons.

The aluminium enclosure is IP 66 rated, meaning it is dustproof and protected against heavy seas or powerful jets of water.

VBOX Speed & Route Profiler is ideal whenever a consistent and repeatable real world test is required with minimum training or when tests need to extend for many hours at a time.

The small form factor, ruggedness and flexible logging rates make the VBOX Micro ideal for durability testing, fuel economy testing, and real world verification.

The VBOX Speed & Route Profiler records the following parameters:

  • Time
  • Position
  • Velocity
  • Acceleration
  • Distance
  • Heading

How does it work

The Speed Profiler incorporates an OLED display with internal memory connected to a VBOX Micro 10 Hz GPS data logger.

The display includes a buzzer and arrow indicators, to direct the driver. The system will alert the driver if they deviate from the specified route or from the route’s speed profile.

To set up a route, the ‘master’ driver pushes a button on the display whenever they make a turn. In the Speed Profiler software, on a PC with internet, the master driver can then convert the input points (over a street map) into ‘right turn’, ‘2nd left at roundabout’ etc, and set the distance at which an arrow will appear on the display.

The resultant file is then uploaded onto the Speed Profiler display for the test driver(s) to follow. The display instructions help to ensure that no route errors are made whilst the VBOX Micro logs each run.

Above: the VBOX Speed Profiler display is showing a speed of 60 km/h, and that the driver must slow to 55 km/h. The amount of user deviation permitted from the required speed is adjustable. The screen is also stating that the driver must turn left in 110 meters.

Above: the speed profile is shown in Display Graph mode, displaying the ideal speed profile for the past 4 ½ seconds and the next 4 ½ seconds. This shows you more clearly how the speed profile will change over the next short period of time.
