4 Update Rate Options

VBOX Speed sensors are available in 5 Hz, 10 Hz, 20 Hz and 100 Hz GPS update rate options. The 100 Hz Speed Sensor also tracks the GLONASS range of navigation satellites, using almost twice as many satellites for a more robust reception in areas of poor satellite visibility.

RS232 Serial Output

Selectable RS232 modes that include NMEA output of speed, position and time (10 - 100 Hz units only).

CAN Bus Output

Data output is via CAN Bus, offering easy integration with data loggers and testing applications. Available channels are position, velocity, distance, time, heading, height, vertical velocity, lat/long acceleration, trigger to zero distance, trigger time, trigger speed, and radius of turn.

Digital Output

The digital output can be configured as either a digital speed pulse output or a lap beacon marker.

Analogue Output

The analogue output can be assigned to vehicle speed, lateral acceleration, longitudinal acceleration, or lap beacon marker with user selectable scaling.

Dust & Waterproof

The aluminium enclosure is IP 66 rated, meaning it is protected against dust and water, and can be used in harsh environments.

Applications

VBOX Speed Sensors are smaller, cheaper and more rugged than the equivalent VBOX range of data loggers, with the same accuracy and quality of signal.

With a length of only 9-14 cm the unit is easy to mount and transport, making the Speed Sensor perfect for automotive testing, motorsport, marine, and telematics.

All units are housed in the same small, water resistant package with connections made via a Deutsch motorsport style connector.

Brake Testing – Using a brake pedal mounted trigger input, the 100 Hz Speed Sensor will measure braking distance to within ±1.8 cm.

Performance & Acceleration Testing – VBOX Speed Sensors are perfect for all variations of performance testing, the accuracy and quick response of the 100 Hz unit gives very repeatable and accurate results.
